Grape Harvest Festival
Since 1936 Mendoza has reenacted
the most important festival for Mendocinians: The homage
man pays to Mendoza ‘main industrial activity: wine growing. Blessing of the grapes. People gather to thank God for the harvest,and the new grapes are blessed. Via Blanca of The Queens Parade. The
Natinal Grape Harvest Queen and eighteen department floats
parade down the day lit downtown streets. Carrusel. It consists of the same parade of
floats escorted by groups of gauchos
on horseback dressed in tipical attire and dancers representing the many countries of the American continent. Main Celebration. It takes place at night
in the Frank Romero Day Greek amphitheater built on the
slopes of the hills in General San Martin Park.
This celebration gathers 21.686 people seated and thousands
more on the hills.
It ends with the election of the new Grape Harvest Queen
and a display of fireworks.
The Frank Romero day greek amphitheater is the only of
its type in Argentina.
The stage is 120 meters long surrounded by 2 km of hills.
The central stage is 60 meters long allowing for a 180º
view of the Main celebration.
